Rossese on the western Ligurian terraces
Hillside vineyards climb inland from the far west of Liguria.
Rossese is the principal grape of Rossese di Dolceacqua, also called Dolceacqua. Most vineyards occupy terraced middle and upper hills in western Liguria. Sandstone-rich marine sediments are widespread, with smaller areas of marl producing different soil textures. The terraces give this red wine a vineyard setting that reaches inland from the coastal edge of Imperia province.
