Pigato on the Ponente terraces

Riviera Ligure di Ponente gives the grape a named white-wine expression.

Pigato is the principal grape of the white wines bearing its name within Riviera Ligure di Ponente. Much of the vineyard landscape occupies low and middle hills, often on steep terraces. Narrow valleys connect the Mediterranean-facing slopes with the inland hills. The denomination also includes Superiore and Passito expressions of Pigato, showing different wine routes from the same named grape.

The western Ligurian example

Riviera Ligure di Ponente’s delimited grape territory involves Imperia, Savona and Genoa provinces, with suitable land and detailed municipal limits. It is a documented Italian wine setting for Pigato.
