White wine above the Ligurian sea

Small terraced vineyards shape Cinque Terre’s coastal wine landscape.

The view begins with terraces: small vineyards on steep coastal hills, close to the sea. Cinque Terre’s white wines draw their main grape base from Bosco, Albarola and Vermentino, used alone or together. The territory has shallow, stony soils over marine sediments. These are wines to explore by place, with the vineyard slopes as much a part of the introduction as the grape names.

Riomaggiore, Vernazza and Monterosso

The grape area covers suitable land in Riomaggiore, Vernazza and Monterosso, together with the delimited Tramonti di Biassa and Tramonti di Campiglia area of La Spezia, in eastern Liguria.
