Primitivo in the Manduria landscape

A named wine territory connects the grape with the Ionian arc and Salento.

Primitivo is the principal grape of Primitivo di Manduria. The production landscape combines the Ionian arc with part of the Salento peninsula, where vineyards share the ground with fields and olive groves. Soils vary between deeper clay-rich formations and thinner coastal ground. The denomination provides a defined southern Puglian setting for exploring the grape.

The Manduria example

Primitivo di Manduria’s grape zone covers suitable land in specified territories of Taranto and Brindisi provinces, including Manduria and neighboring municipalities.
