Negroamaro in Salice Salentino

The grape leads the denomination’s red and rosé wines without a grape-name specification.

The Salice Salentino denomination places Negroamaro in the inland Salento countryside north of Lecce. It supplies the principal grape base for the red and rosé wines labeled without a grape name. Deep clay-rich soils are common here, among vineyards, olive groves and masserie. This named wine territory gives a concrete starting point for exploring Negroamaro in Puglia.

When the grape is named

Salice Salentino DOC red and rosé without a grape name require at least 75% Negroamaro in the vineyard composition. Wines with the Negroamaro or Negro Amaro specification require at least 90%.

A delimited Salento reference

Salice Salentino’s grape zone crosses Lecce and Brindisi provinces, covering five whole municipalities and defined parts of Campi Salentina and Cellino San Marco.
