Cabernet on the stony ground of Bolgheri
Sassicaia’s name points to the stones in its vineyard soils.
Bolgheri Sassicaia has Cabernet Sauvignon as its principal grape. The protected territory occupies a delimited part of Castagneto Carducci, with terraced ground and slopes whose soils contain conspicuous stones. The name Sassicaia refers to that stony character. The vineyard story developed through experiments with French grape varieties and a growing understanding of the local coastal climate.
