Rosazzo is a white blend from a delimited Udine area, with Friulano as its largest required grape contribution.
Friulano leads a blend rooted in a small part of eastern Friuli.
Rosazzo brings together Friulano, Sauvignon and Pinot Bianco or Chardonnay, with Friulano making up at least half of the grape base. The vineyard hills rest on alternating marl and sandstone, locally called ponca. Terraces and careful drainage help growers work this easily eroded ground. The wine belongs to a small, precisely bounded corner of the eastern Friulian hills.
The grape recipe requires at least 50% Friulano, 20–30% Sauvignon, and 20–30% Pinot Bianco and/or Chardonnay. Ribolla Gialla may contribute up to 10%; other suitable white varieties up to 5%.
The delimited area lies mainly in Manzano and San Giovanni al Natisone, with a small extension into Corno di Rosazzo, in Udine province.
