A label that becomes more precise

Langhe Nascetta and the Novello subzone have different grape rules.

Langhe Nascetta requires at least 85% Nascetta in the vineyard base. The more specific Langhe Nascetta del Comune di Novello, also written Nas-cëtta del Comune di Novello, requires vineyards made entirely of Nascetta. That longer name carries a narrower rule, so the geographic words on the label are useful rather than merely decorative.

An Italian wine setting

The Novello subzone includes all of Novello and delimited portions of Barolo and Monforte d’Alba in the province of Cuneo. Despite the wording Comune di Novello, its legally defined grape area also includes those neighboring portions.
