Nero di Troia is the principal grape of Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva, with other permitted red grapes able to join the blend. The surrounding Murgia landscape is built on limestone and dolomitic rock. Shallow, stony soils and land shaped by karst processes are common features. This is one defined wine expression within the broader Castel del Monte territory.
The two-year minimum includes at least one year in wood and begins November 1 of the grape-production year.
The grape zone includes Minervino Murge, defined portions of neighboring municipalities and the D’Ameli administrative island of Binetto, as set out in the production boundary.
