Discovering Aglianico through Taurasi

Taurasi offers one clearly defined way to explore this grape in a mature red wine.

In Taurasi DOCG, Aglianico provides the foundation of a red wine that spends at least three years aging, including one in wooden casks. The Riserva follows a longer schedule. These are rules for Taurasi, rather than a timetable for every wine made from Aglianico.

The Taurasi specification describes a dry, full flavor and a ruby color that moves toward garnet with age. It gives you a particular expression to taste, without making one denomination stand for the grape’s entire range.

An Avellino wine to explore

Taurasi’s defined area comprises seventeen municipalities in Avellino province, including Taurasi, Montemarano, Lapio and Castelfranci. This is the origin of the example wine, rather than a claim about Aglianico’s birthplace.
