Sbagliato Rosato

A summer variation of the Negroni Sbagliato using a sparkling rosé in place of Prosecco.

The frame is the Sbagliato’s, Campari and vermouth rosso over ice with sparkling wine on top, but a dry sparkling rosé takes the place of the Prosecco and pulls the drink toward red fruit. Build it in a wine glass, add the sparkling wine last and stir only once, so it stays lively.

Where it comes from

It has no documented birthplace: it’s a summer riff on the Negroni Sbagliato that Bar Basso in Milan first poured in 1972. Drink it in the warm months, outdoors, at the aperitivo hour before dinner.
