Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is the sole grape permitted in the vineyards for Barolo DOCG, one precise expression of this variety.

100% Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo alone in Barolo

One denomination makes the grape its exclusive base.

Barolo DOCG must be made from vineyards planted exclusively to Nebbiolo. The specification also describes the traditional espalier training and Guyot pruning used in its area. Barolo therefore offers a concrete way to meet the grape through a named place and local vineyard practice, without extending those rules to every Nebbiolo wine.

An Italian wine setting

The Barolo grape area includes all of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba and delimited portions of eight other municipalities in the province of Cuneo. It is a defined part of the Langhe, rather than every vineyard around Alba.
