At least 70% Garganega

A minimum share leaves room for different permitted blends.

Soave DOC requires Garganega for at least 70% of its vineyard base. Trebbiano di Soave and Chardonnay can occupy the remaining permitted share, with a limited allowance for other suitable nonaromatic white grapes. Garganega is therefore central to this named wine, without every Soave needing to be made from Garganega alone.

An Italian wine setting

The Soave grape area includes all or part of listed municipalities in the province of Verona, including Soave and Monteforte d’Alpone. Classico and Colli Scaligeri are additional geographic designations within the specification; their names give more detail than Soave alone.
