The sunny slopes of Diano
In Diano d’Alba, the name Sörì preserves a local way of reading the vineyard slopes.
South of Alba, Diano d’Alba stretches along a hill nearly 500 meters above sea level. Its wine takes the village’s name, while the surrounding high hills overlook the Tanaro.
Generations of growers identified the best positions for Dolcetto vineyards. By 1988, these areas had been precisely delimited within the municipality. They are called Sörì, a Piedmontese word meaning “sunny place”. The name keeps the slopes’ exposure at the heart of Diano’s vineyard geography.
