Dolcetto on the Dogliani hills

Dogliani is a useful Italian expression made entirely from this grape.

In Dogliani, Dolcetto occupies the western edge of the southern Langhe, approaching the Ligurian Apennines and Maritime Alps. The cooler hill setting matters for a grape that suffers excessive heat. Sandstone and more clay-rich ground alternate across the slopes. Dogliani is made solely from Dolcetto, offering a clear view of the grape in this particular landscape.

The Dogliani example

The Dogliani grape zone comprises listed whole or partial municipalities in Cuneo province, around Dogliani and the southern Langhe. This is one documented Italian setting for Dolcetto.
