Vermentino among granite and wind
Gallura gives the grape a northeastern Sardinian setting.
Vermentino is the principal grape of this Gallura denomination. Granite forms much of the underlying rock, weathering into coarse sandy ground. Near the sea, wind-shaped rocks and Mediterranean scrub mark the landscape; farther inland, oak and cork-oak woods appear. Persistent wind and vineyards reaching from coastal ground towards mountain slopes are part of this particular Sardinian home.
