Sagrantino among the Umbrian hills
A small central Umbrian territory gives the grape its denomination.
Montefalco Sagrantino is made entirely from Sagrantino. The vineyards follow gently descending hills in central Umbria, with different slopes and aspects creating varied growing conditions. Yellow sands, lake-derived clays, river deposits and marl occur across the area. These changing soils give the grape several vineyard settings within the small territory around Montefalco.
