Friuli Colli Orientali distinguishes two Refosco names.
A Friuli Colli Orientali label can name Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso or Refosco, the latter made from Refosco Nostrano. The specification lists them separately. That distinction matters when choosing a bottle: the broad name Refosco does not make the two entries interchangeable. Refosco di Faedis is a further, geographically defined expression based on Refosco Nostrano.
Refosco di Faedis is restricted to the delimited Colli Orientali territory within Faedis, Nimis, Attimis, Torreano, Povoletto and Tarcento. Excessively wet or insufficiently sunny land is excluded. This is the area of that named wine, rather than a boundary for every Refosco vineyard.
