The sweet wine of the Veronese valleys

A group of hills and valleys gives Recioto its vineyard home.

Corvina or Corvinone and Rondinella form the core grape base of Recioto della Valpolicella. The vineyards belong to the foothill belt of Verona province, sheltered by the Lessini to the north. Limestone, basalt and moraine or river deposits make the ground varied. The sweet wine’s story also includes appassimento, the drying of grapes after harvest.

Grape drying without heat-assisted dehumidification

The grapes dry in suitable rooms. Environmental conditioning is permitted at temperatures comparable to traditional drying, but dehumidification systems using heat are excluded.

The delimited Valpolicella area

The grape zone includes whole or specified parts of listed municipalities in Verona province, across the foothill territory within the detailed production boundary.
