Three grape paths through the southern Marche

Pecorino, Passerina and Montepulciano give Offida different wine expressions.

Offida’s two named whites center on Pecorino and Passerina, while Montepulciano is the principal grape of the red. Their shared territory runs from the Adriatic coastal area into higher hills of the southern Marche. Deep soils with sandy, clay-rich and conglomerate formations support the vines. The denomination brings these different grapes into one regional landscape.

Three styles, three grape bases

Offida Pecorino requires at least 85% Pecorino; Offida Passerina at least 85% Passerina. The red style requires at least 85% Montepulciano. Those percentages describe each style’s main grape, not a blend containing all three.

Ascoli Piceno and Fermo provinces

The grape zones lie in delimited territories of Ascoli Piceno and Fermo provinces. The specification sets the boundaries by wine type.
