Asti and the Tanaro valley

The regional product record describes cultivation in Asti province, particularly the Tanaro valley. It also records this pepper in an Asti horticultural competition in 1914.

Try it in the kitchen

Roast the fleshy peppers and serve strips with olive oil, or use the broad fruit to make stuffed peppers. A red and a yellow pepper on the same plate make the local range easy to see.

Check name and growing origin

Look for the Quadrato d’Asti name and ask where the peppers were grown. The regional description allows fruit that can be slightly hot, so do not assume an identical sweetness in every example.
