Turbiana on the clay plain of Garda

Lugana’s vineyards occupy mostly flat ground beside the lake.

Lugana begins with a different Garda landscape from the surrounding hills: much of its vineyard area is a plain with layered clay soils. Those soils become sandier toward the hillier parts of the denomination. Turbiana is the local grape name used in the specification for Trebbiano di Soave. The lake and the clay ground give you two useful reference points as you explore Lugana’s white wines.

Across the Lombardy and Veneto border

The delimited area includes all of Sirmione and parts of Desenzano del Garda, Lonato del Garda, Pozzolengo and Peschiera del Garda, spanning Brescia and Verona provinces.
