A breed shaped by mountain grazing
The national sheep and goat breeding association places Orobica herds in Valgerola, Valsassina, Val Varrone, the eastern upper Lake Como area and upper Val Brembana. Its breed sheet describes grazing from spring through fall and summer mountain pasture.
Long hair and substantial horns are recognizable features. Milk and meat are both part of the breed’s productive role: the association identifies kid meat as the meat production.
