An orchard fruit worth recognizing
A basket of azzeruole can resemble a collection of miniature apples. The University of Trieste’s guide describes their place on Renaissance tables and later in regional Italian markets. They are a different fruit, not a small apple cultivar.

Use azzeruole in jellies, preserves and pastry. Try a spoonful of azzeruola jelly beside a plain ricotta dessert, keeping the fruit’s character easy to taste.
